Jamie xx jobbar på ny EP

Jamie Smith tar tid för att fokusera på sitt soloprojekt.

I en intervju med FACT som publicerades tidigare i dag berättar The xxs Jamie xx om framtiden. Förra året innehöll mycket arbete tillsammans med bandet men 2013 ser det ut som att Jamie Smith tänker lägga mer fokus på sitt soloprojekt. Han berättar att han köpt mycket gamla skivor och i synnerhet afrikansk musik: ”I’ve been enjoying the melodies and how different the song structuring process is, and especially how danceable it is. I was speaking to Kieran Hebden a while ago and he was recommending me a lot of records in that vein too.”

När FACT ställer frågan om man komma kunna märka av några afrikanska influenser på en kommande EP (ännu utan detaljer) svarar han följande: “Oh yeah, I feel like I’ve been absorbing a lot of that production wise. All the records that I collect work their way into the music that I make in some way or another, but I think in terms of the African influence it’s becoming more visible.”
