Bono ber om ursäkt för att ”alla” påtvingats albumet

Bono backar.
Det har varit enorma skriverier om U2 – inte i det mest positiva lagret. Bandet forcerade fram sitt album till alla enheter kopplade till Apple-imperiet. Ett mycket lukrativt erbjudande, men kanske en gnutta naivt för Bono som gärna ger sken av att vara fredsmäklare, något som inte går hand i hand med att påtvinga lyssnarna ett nytt album.
U2 står förvisso stadigt med odödliga stadiumklassiker från 80- och 90-talet. Men även Bono har fått bekänna färg efter den minst sagt omtumlade releasen som bland annat inkluderat texter i stil med ”How you delete the new U2 album”. I en frågestund på Facebook ber han om ursäkt.
”Can you please never release an album on iTunes that automatically downloads to peoples [sic] playlists ever again? It’s really rude.”
”Oops. I’m sorry about that. I had this beautiful idea and we got carried away with ourselves. Artists are prone to that kind of thing. Drop of megalomania, touch of generosity, dash of self-promotion, and deep fear that these songs that we poured our life into over the last few years mightn’t be heard. There’s a lot of noise out there. I guess we got a little noisy ourselves to get through it.”
